ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Lin Abigail Tan, but I usually go by Abbey. I am a soon-to-be alumna of the Medical Sciences program at the University of Cincinnati. I am a proud Filipino-Chinese-American, and I've travelled to myriad places around the world, my favorites being the Philippines and the Netherlands. I love to read and write, try new foods, sketch faces and doodle infinity loops, watch nature/cultural documentaries, play the violin (also clarinet and piano!), swim, do calisthenics, and overall experience this wonderful life I so gratefully get to call my own.

I aspire to become a neurologist because I want to research Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, as well as improve people's quality of life with the treatments available. During my final year at UC, I've shadowed physicians, performed research, volunteered, and contributed to organizations that enabled me to gain a deeper insight into the world of healthcare and humanity. I've grown immensely over the past few years at UC, inhabiting various leadership roles such as Supplemental Instruction leader for Medical Physiology and Editor-in-Chief of the MedSci Chronicles, as well as developing my passions for music, art, and calisthenics.

This upcoming fall, I will be attending medical school. In my future career, I hope to take these experiences in order to cultivate sustainable and effective growth + connection.

Every day, I aim to "carpe diem!" and learn something new. I especially love when the subjects I learn relate to each other and intertwine. I explore some of these topics in my weekly column, "The Missing Link", on the COM Tribunal's MedSci Chronicles. You can check it out at https://comtribunal.com/blog/.
